Dear Denver, we love you.
I know it’s been a hot minute since I’ve poured my heart onto my keyboard and into this blog. But in my defense, it has been the month of all months. October’s are always filled with endless to do’s and events that have basically deemed the month, the official “party” month. To top it off, this month we got to visit the Mile High City, Denver, Colorado!!
Denver airport is a good 45 minutes away from the city, but you can totally still see the Rocky Mountains surrounding the area. It was so easy and fun to catch the train into downtown Denver. The train ride was so scenic and it arrived at Union Station, which by the way is so pretty! (if you follow on snapchat, cindy_gmoore, you got to ride along with us)
After arriving at Union Station, we found ourselves HUNGRY, so we decided to get lost and venture out. Denver is BEAUTIFUL! I loved the buildings and aesthetic of the city. After exploring we ended up finding this amazing deli called Backcountry Delicatessen. Backcountry had the best crew, everybody was so nice and the food was delish. I even decided to get the party started with a nice cold Denver brewed beer!
My hubs had his heart set on having no itinerary planned for this trip, which was SO HARD for me. So to compromise, I picked out a few must see places and we played it by ear on whatever he felt like doing since after all, it was his birthday weekend. After brunch, he chose to visit the Great Divide Brewery, so we explored the streets and the awesome art until we arrived (we even snapped a selfie here and there).
I have to brag on the Great Divide because for 3 bucks we tasted a flight which is 3 of their 3 oz sample beers. All brewed right there in their distillery. SO, so good. We had ourselves a good ole time.
Great Divide brewery gets packed, like super PACKED so after a few cold ones, we decided to call it quits and ended up searching for a place to grab dessert. I yelped the crap out of sweets and dessert places in the area until we decided on the Inventing Room. They are famous for their nitrogen creations! Obviously, I went for the Mexican fried ice cream with frozen caramel because yum, right?
I’m not going to lie, it was an explosion of flavor, SO FREAKING GOOD! With happy and full bellies, we decided to head over to our Airbnb and call the first day a success. We jumped on the train and headed towards our light rail stop. Once there we lyfted our way to our amazing Airbnb casa.
All we wanted to do was settle in our comfy bed, play with the house cats, order delicious Denver pizza (from Kaos) and call it a night. Like true locals, haha! Before the night was up, we ended up walking to the local sprouts to grab some creamer because I’m cranky in the mornings without coffee plus we had full reign of the home’s beautiful kitchen! On the walk, we found such a fun mural in the neighborhood of one our favorite classic movies. Rest assured once we got home from the store we settled in like true local natives.
Day one was super successful! It was the perfect start to our bday weekend! Stay tuned for day two… (by far my favorite part of the trip!)
