was last week here at the DMA and it was EPIC. It was so touching to see thousands of people gather together dressed up as Frida Kahlo. Especially to celebrate her beautiful life and her Mexican heritage. Truly, the entire Mexico Exhibit and collection at the DMA was GORGEOUS. Full of life and color, it left my husband and I speechless.
Frida Fest reminded me so much of my own family and our heritage. The exhibition inspired me to enjoy the rest of my summer with some of my families favorite Mexican treats! Some of which I hope you try for yourself!
For starters, let’s talk about the drink of choice my family enjoys… Estrella Jalisco. Why? It’s light, doesn’t have a bite and it’s truly refreshing. Not to mention it pairs up so very nice with chips and salsa! I mean, what more can you ask for, right? And, the best part? Estrella Jalisco compliments my most favorite snack food in the world… Mexican Corn on the cob! (heck, even in a cup) If you haven’t heard of this deliciousness, you are in for a treat! Seriously.
Mexican Corn on the Cob How-To
Before I share the how to, please promise to keep an open mind ok?! Pinky Promise. So here it goes. It’s seriously super easy.
- Boil your corn on the cob until cooked (usually about 20 minutes)
- Take out and immediately butter the cobs
- Add Salt
- Then smother with Mayo (your choice)
- Then sour cream (go light)
- Followed by Parmesan Cheese
- Finally, add some chili powder for a kick!
- Optional: squeeze some lime/lemon on it = yum!!
Remember, you promised to keep an open mind. You can take out some of the ingredients if they’re not to your liking, but trust, and give it a try first.
I hope you try some of our favorites, and I can’t wait to hear all about yours! Do share so I can try them out. Until then… Happy Summer!
